beach-partyBeach parties are great fun parties.

Party on the beach

It can be great fun to have a party on the beach, but organising it can be prone to problems. You may be able to get away with a barbecue on the beach for 12 people, but if you want to do anything a bit more organised, and if you want to use music, you should contact the local authority for permission.

For example Rother District Council in Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex does allow BBQs and parties on its beaches. However, permission should always be sought in all cases prior to the event.

Beach party in a marquee

A great alternative is to hold a beach party in your back garden. A marquee or a gazebo can be set up. You can order in a quantity of soft play sand and make a sand pit that will give it more of a beach feel. unless you are in peak summer you may want to get in a load of patio heaters to warm the place up.

Ask all the people that you invite to come in their beach gear. Hawaiian shirts and shorts could work well for the men. For the ladies there is a wider variety of beach wear.

Indoor beach party

This is one of the best ideas for a winter party to cast off those cold-weather blues. Can be done in your house, or in a club or a hall.

The main secret is to turn up the heating and create the right ambience.

Decoration

  • Bunting (you can buy this in but can be good fun to make yourself)
  • Party lights
  • Disco lights
  • Palm trees  (a palm tree could cost a small fortune but you can buy palm-like house plants from your local garden centre)
  • Sand on the floor or in a sand pit (not on the carpet)
  • Surf boards
  • Beach towels

Food and Drink

  • Cocktails
  • Pina Colada
  • Rum Punch
  • Tropical Fruit Juice
  • Spanish or Mexican beers (Sol, Dos Equis, San Miguel etc.) with a lime in the top
  • Keg of cold beer

Food

  • Hog roast
  • Hawaiian or tropical pizzas (you can send out for a pizza delivery)
  • + regular party finger food

Beach party music

Here are a few ideas to get you into the party spirit.

  • Jammin – Bob Marley
  • Hot Hot Hot – Buster Poindexter
  • Heat Wave – Linda Ronstadt
  • Dancing Queen – Abba
  • Surfin’ USA – Beach Boys
  • Hawaii Five-O Theme Tune
  • Feels Like Summer Again – The Wallflowers
  • Coconut Juice – Tyga
  • Summertime -  Kenny Chesney
  • Under the Boardwalk – The Drifters
  • Pocketful of Sunshine – Natasha Bedingfield

Beach party for the true sun seeker.

At the south of Union Island there is a remote beach which rises out of the middle of the sea and is protected by coral reefs. We call it Mopion. It has to be the most fabulous secluded beach in the world. It is certainly the most romantic tropical location that you will find if you wish to propose to anyone.

Access is by speed boat from Union or Palm Island. Hire an experienced person and visit on a bright day. If you manage to get there, please send me an email and photo. It is ideal for small groups or couples and please do not leave any litter especially water bottles.

Enjoy the snorkelling and visit the other islands that you will see all around you.

Beach Party – To Do list for a Caribbean Theme.

1. Choose a venue.
2. Make a guest list.
3. Invite VIP’s.
4. Hire a steel drum band. Search on Google for Steel band/steel band hire/Caribbean steel bands/Steel Pan bands and add your area or city.
5. Hire a Sound system or DJ.
6. Hire Caribbean Caterers, check that they know how to make a proper Rum Punch for arrival drinks.
7. Arrange for the set to be decorated if it is not on a beach.
#Toptip – Do not get pinned down to a work station on the day of the event. The host must be amongst the guests.

Recreate a Caribbean Island party nite with just the right melodic steeldrum rhythms and a Caribbean mobile DJ .. Soft, Cool, Relaxing, Tropical sounds of the steel drums … then later … hot and buzzing with Caribbean Carnival sounds.
