Sweet Bread
This recipe can be used for to make chelsea buns or chocolate Tear-and-share.

Ingredients

200g strong bread flour plus extra for dusting work surface.
1/2 sachet of easy bake yeast
1tsp sugar
200 ml warm milk
1 egg whisked
Fillings of your choice eg. sultanas, chocolate chopped into chunks, fruit, cinnamon, mixed spice

Preheat the oven to 100c and then raise to 200c when you need to cook the bread.
Method for the bread
1. Put the flour, sugar, yeast and spices (if using) into a large bowl.

2. Make a well in the centre and pour in the whisked egg. Using a round bladed knife stir the egg in to the dry ingredients.

3. Mix in a little of the milk at a time untill the mixture has come together and is a little bit sticky.

4. Flour your work surface and your hands (this helps the mixture fom sticking to yor hands). Knead your dough for 10 mins so that your dough is smooth in appearance.

5. Add your other ingredients such as sultanas, chocolate and fruit. Mix untill well combined.

6. Bake in the oven for 10 mins.

For Chelsea Buns or Chocolate Tear-and-Share.

1. Beat 50g butter and 50g soft brown sugar together.

2. Roll out your dough so that it is 1/2 cm thick.

3. Spread on the butter and sugar mix. Add the sultanas and/or chocolate chunks.

4. Roll up into a log shape and cut in to slices.
Leave to rise for 30mins to 1hour (the longer you leave it the larger it will get) in a warm dry place ith a clean tea-towel covering them. Don’t heat up the bread too much other wise you will ‘kill’ the yeast and it will not rise.

Place in the pre-heated oven for 10 mins.
